RECENT PICS & STORIES

There’s so much to talk about…where to start?
Let me pick up from where I left off. The hair patterns continue!
After our YWAM trip to Mexico, the next request I had was to put “two music notes” on my head. I wanted to leave the AREC logo, so this was my thought:
First I re-did the YWAM logo:

Here’s the music note that’s part of the “E” of “AREC” – I decided to go with the lower part of the “E”:
To make everything the same length, I ended up buzzing the AREC:
The music notes were still not clear enough, so a few days later, I shaved off the AREC completely and focused on the notes:

Whew, this proved to be a difficult design! As it turned out, even my musician friends had a hard time telling that these were music notes. Hmm, what’s the point if no one can tell what it is? Let’s start over with a blank slate:
February 10
This time, since it was almost Valentine’s day, I designed the music notes a bit differently:
And, just to show further support for Apple, let’s put their logo on the other side!
These pictures, by the way, are the first I took with my new iPhone. Best phone I’ve ever had – I’m loving it!
Here’s the end result of these designs:
And the music notes, a few days later:

The next design (also funded by the same AREC runner) will be “B t L” in script, in support of Back to Life Chiropractic:
The chiropractor is another AREC runner. She’s great!

After that, the next funded idea is a hand print. Looks like someone has already used this idea:
So let me ask, have you put your handprint on the bald head of this project yet? I’m not sure what I mean by that, but it sounded like a deep thought, so I’ll leave it up for interpretation. :)

It’s been fun seeing people’s reactions to my lack of hair. Adults usually either think it’s cool, or ask “are you ok?” When they try not to stare, it can be awkward. Not for me, because I don’t mind at all, but sometimes it seems like they’re trying not to ask questions with their eyes. Or trying not to get caught staring, maybe?
Kids, on the other hand, just stare, no reservations, even if they get caught and we make eye contact. I love the innocence and honesty of this. A few weeks ago, I was going to get my laundry (we have shared laundry facilities at our condo) when I saw a man with his two small daughters passing by. The youngest daughter looked down the walkway at me as she walked by. Just before I was out of her sight, she leaned back and continued watching me.

Another cute kid story: At church the other day, I was playing my djembe. A friend I’ve started running with recently was sitting in the front row with her 3-year-old daughter, who was staring at me. My friend wasn’t sure if it was because of my bald head, or the drum (this little girl loves drums), until she said, “That Liz, she's an instrument girl, and she's a running girl...but she's not a hair girl.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
